"...Congress finds and declares that wild free-roaming horses and burros are living symbols of the historic and pioneer spirit of the West; that they contribute to the diversity of lifeforms within the nation and enrich the lives of the American people." (1971 Congressional Declaration)

Dear President and Mrs. Clinton,

Do those words have any meaning at all anymore?

I am mailing this from my mom's e-mail account to protest the BLM's abuse of the Wild Mustangs!!! Why are these horses being sold for slaughter when there are ways to save them and preserve this symbol of the American Heritige for our future generations?!! I am a horse lover at heart I admit, but who in this country would like to see a symbol of our freedom, the very freedom we fought for and our forefathers bought with their lives, when we don't have to lose it?!!

It is a sad thing indeed, to see this happening... a shame. It is no wonder the children of my generation feel so lost, the symbols of our past are going the way of the Mustangs... dying! I cry out for these wonderful creatures... because they founded this country!! They were used so much by the original founders for exploration, for farming...to settle this nation into the nation it is now... and yet you are ready to kill them, all because the BLM is hiding it's own mistakes and using the laws and loopholes to achieve it's own twisted ideals!!! I don't think it's too late to save these wonderful and much needed animals!!

The IGHA/HorseAid program has a wonderful idea, and I think maybe you should let them manage the mustangs... or at least figure out a way to do it without losing a valuable part of our American heritage... Something that everyone now seems to forget in the rush into the turn of the century... maybe we should all take time and remember where we came from, who got us where we are, how they did it, and why... for freedom... and if the Mustangs, the last free thing in this nation, are destroyed, then where are we to look for  the type of inspiration that wrote the Declaration of Independence,  or caused Benjamin Franklin to discover electricity? The Congress, Senate, the President and the House, need to take a good look at what they are destroying... not just a beautiful animal, but something that is a living link to our past... and an inspiration to Americans everywhere!!!
